I am writing down the bones
Stripping down the words
Removing the what ifs
And the how abouts
And the but thens

I am writing down the bones
Looking underneath the skin
Stripping away the fat
And the flesh
Seeking the I am

I am writing down the bones
The pure wounds
The absolute meanings
The structure of language
The basis of creation

I am writing down the bones
So that one day
I will understand
The skeleton of language

So that one day I no longer have to follow the bones
But instead control them
Tell them where to go
What to look like

So that I can write more than the bones
Adding my own flesh
And my own skin
Crafting the sounds
And the silence

So that one day I no longer have to say
Here I am
What must I do
But instead say
Here I am
Here is what you must do
Mere is what you must say

Until the bones are no longer bones
And there is no master
And no servent
But a we
And the sounds sculpt themselves
And we sing our songs to the world

I
Am writing down the bones
