Calling forth the ancient spells of nature
I stand upon the rock of life’s beginnings
Casting forth my soul into the heart of the world
I become one with the sages of the world
The birds and the beasts become my family
And I stand at its head
Before me spreads the grimoire of the universe
The spells emblazoned upon its pages
In the motions of the stars
And as one all creatures take up the chant
Invoking these ten thousand spells
Calling up new life

I
Sit down
To write
And
I try
To write
But
Nothing
Comes

You can’t rush inspiration
Or so they tell me
And so
I sit
And
Wait

I am...

I am the child of the moon and the stars
I dance among the planets and sing with the galaxies
I swim through the Milky Way and soar among the nebulae

The creatures of the earth are my children
The plants and mountains my family
When I laugh the sun is bright
And the sky is cloudless
When I cry the clouds are dark
And heavy with rain

When I sing
The whole of creation joins in my song
But when I am silent
Not even the wind
Whispers among the trees

I am the child of the moon and the stars
I dance among the planets and sing with the galaxies
I am writing down the bones
Stripping down the words
Removing the what ifs
And the how abouts
And the but thens

I am writing down the bones
Looking underneath the skin
Stripping away the fat
And the flesh
Seeking the I am

My first short story

I am writing down the bones. Well, not just the bones, but also everything attached to them; the different muscles and tendons and ligaments, and all the organs. It’s my life. I work in the records department of one of the largest hospitals in the city. If you want to get specific, I’m a medical transcriptionist. It’s a very important job, because we have so many patients the doctors don’t have enough time to write down all the notes from each examination on the patient’s charts. Instead they record their examinations and send the recordings to us. Then we transcribe the notes they make onto the patients charts.

There is a song
Sung in the silence
That is shared between friends

It is a song called I’ll be there
Don’t worry
And
I love you

And when this song is sung
You can be assured
You will never be alone

Come children

Come children
Listen to the winds
Here the wisdom of the ages
Whispered
In their ghostly song

Come children
Watch the raging fire
See the tales of old
Unfold
Upon its eternal stage

Come children
Drink the rushing rivers
Let life
Flow through you

Come children
Touch the eternal stone
Feel
Its power
